Fashion Jewelry - Ten Trends For 2011

The New Year is almost here and with it will come new fashion jewelry trends for 2011. The fashion jewelry trends for 2011 will be determined by many factors, but the writing is on the wall to predict what will be the market shapers for the upcoming fashion year.

That being said, let's take a look at what we think will be the fashion setting guidelines that will shape the new year.

1. International fashion with an emphasis on cultural uniqueness. A push towards using locally significant materials, that carry cultural weight. 2010 was all about exotic locations and ethnic fashion, featuring everything from tribal jewelery, African beads, seed beaded jewelery and more. For 2011 expect a more localized focus to feature your own native materials and beads.

2. 2011, in contrast to 2010 nine will be all about symmetry and coordination of clothing and jewelery. No longer will you be looking to call attention to your unique jewelery pieces with brash colors and shapes, but a more subtle use of your jewelery is trending in. Bold was good, now bold and stylish is the name of the game.

3. The price of gold continues to skyrocket. This will continue to have an impact on jewelery making trends. Brass, silver, wood and beads are going to take over the field while gold remains unaffordable for the masses.

4. Cold colors will be the new fashion trend. Wild beads and earth tone colors will be used a little more sparingly, while blacks, whites, blues and grays will help create a fashion image of strength, collection and ability. To stand out with flaring color is no longer trendsetting in 2011.

5. Handcrafted unique jewelery will continue to be hugely popular. More popular than ever, in 2011, because of the desire to express oneself through creativity rather than extravagance. Expect the truly fashionable to be wearing their own beaded jewelery, from necklaces, pendants, to rings and bands.

6. A search for meaning will lead jewelery fashion setters to create pieces that have greater symbolism. In 2011, each piece of your jewelery box should have a story to tell and a history to speak of. Selective wearing of symbolic jewelery will set the 2011 trend strongly.

7. Small, light bracelets, and subtle pendants will carry the day. Perhaps you have a beautifully beaded pendant, small, and nearly unnoticeable until you turn slightly and it catches the light. Jewelery of this type will be all the rage, and occasion many a conversation.

8. 2011 will be the year of solids and stripes for fashion. Prints will still have their place, but will not be as common as solid clothing and patterns will reemerge for the time being as a fashion winner.

9. Dangling earrings, with glass beads or a central focus piece will grow in popularity. 2011 will be all about focus and meaning, and the dangling earring provides a perfect counterpoint to the less audacious clothing fashion trends that will be seen.

10. Craft jewelery making will be an unbeatable trend for 2011. With financial pressures mounting, and little relief in sight, families will return to what matters, and fashion will reflect this. The value of sharing the joy of creation together with children, creating memories as well as jewelery grow even further in popularity than it is today.

There are a few key features of the coming year that we feel will most directly shape the coming jewelery styles. We have created this list based on an expectation of a slow financial economy, increased global communication with a cultural nationalism emphasis, and instinct.

The Difference Between Precious and Semi-Precious Stones

For many years now, semi-precious and precious stones have always been used by men and women alike. Similar to the modern-age jewelry that a lot of people wear today, the most dominant features of pieces are usually beautiful, attractive and colorful stones that are used as metallic embellishments and ornamentation.

These stones that are used for the crafting of various fine jewelry are basically divided into two types: the semi-precious stones and the precious stones.

These are heavily used in the jewelry market as variety and value is set and considered.

These semi-precious and precious stones are essentially rocks or minerals that have been taken from under the earth and then enhanced by the artisans through the process of cutting and polishing. The finest and the rarest of these stones and minerals are what turn out to be gems or semi-precious and precious stones.

Semi Precious Gemstone Beads

This category of gemstone beads are crafted to the most stringent criteria of quality, size and shape that is unparallel in the industry. The quantity of semi precious gemstone beads found in the earth’s surface is much more than precious gemstone beads and hence they are categorized as “semi precious”.

They are largely valued because of their magnificent appearance settings. Semi precious gemstone beads including amber beads, black spinel rondelle beads, chrysoprase rondelle beads, black spinel roundelle beads, green fluorite rondelle faceted beads are widely used in various beautiful handicraft jewelries that can be worn from any kind of occasion including corporate meetings, marriages, parties and other special occasions.

Beads - How Many Types Are There?

If you have been working with beads for long you know there are there are thousands of them. It can be overwhelming being at an arts and crafts show or standing in a craft store and trying to decide what to buy. It may even be difficult to tell just exactly what the difference is between each package. There are so many types that no matter how hard you try to answer the question of, "How many...?" you never will. I too struggled through this when I first began but eventually found a few key things that have helped me avoid seeing merely a mass wall of chaos but instead individualized package of art.

1. Start with the color - Beads come in all sorts of colors. And as you go in to a crafts store or to a show specifically geared for arts and crafts you probably have an idea of what colors you are looking for. We are fairly good at seeing the colors we like and the color schemes that work together. Because of this color is a great place to start when trying to figure out which package or strands of these little works of art do you want to buy.

2. Know the basic materials - Once you have narrowed down the myriad of choices you have by finding the colors you like you can then further narrow down your choices by knowing the basic materials beads are made of. Each of these materials has their time and place along with their good and bad points. The first material is plastic. This material is great because it is durable and it is often less expensive. But it may not look as nice as the others. The second is glass. This steps it up a notch and looks very nice but with that step up there is a slight step up in price. They also can be a little more likely to break. The final material these little works of art come in is clay. Clay will look a lot like glass after it is made into a finished product but the difference is these are usually handmade. The plus of this is that these often fall into the category of fair trade but again they are a little more pricey.

Factors To Consider Before Buying Wholesale Gemstone Beads

It might be difficult to choose from among so many wholesale gemstone beads twisted in skeins, like a yarn. They give an impression of mass as well as saturated color that instantly captures the heart of a jewelry lover.

You could just choose what looks good and what you can afford but that essentially is note the best of choosing wholesale gemstone beads. One should however make a choice with must diligence so that he gets the best of deal. Here we shall provide you on how to choose the best out of what the Beads Exporter has in your budget.

You could be sure on the fact that a good quality gemstone would not be there in the open. You could ask the shopkeeper for the stones inside glass cases or let the merchant know that you are seeking better quality stones. Most of the times better quality beads are comparatively more expensive; however we all of us know that quality is worth paying a few dollars extra.

Green Chrysoprase Gems

Chrysoprase is considered the rarest and most valuable stone in the chalcedony quartz group.

That's quite a distinction considering that the chalcedony species also includes agate, onyx, carnelian, bloodstone and jasper. But chrysoprase, it is fair to say, is also the least known of all the chalcedony varieties.

Where Does Jade Come From?

Most jadeite today is mined in Myanmar (burma) and carved in China. However, jade is also found in Central America, Guatemala, the Olmec. The Mayans and Toltecs also treasured jade and used it for carvings and masks. The Aztecs even taxed jade.

Although neolithic jadeite axes were found in Europe, it is not known where this prehistoric jadeite was mined, although it is possible that the material came from a deposit in the Alps. Nephrite is mined in Canada, Australia, the United States, and Taiwan.

How To Clean A Gemstone

* Cleaning is not a big task, but it’s difficult to know what type of cleaning should be provided for that particular gemstone. Certain gems like opals, amber and pearls are soft and porous. So, they should be wiped with a clean moist cloth.

* Gemstones like turquoise, onyx, lapis lazuli are opaque gemstones that absorbs chemicals and cause discoloration in stones. It is not recommended to use ultrasonic cleaner, ammonia, chemical solution.

* Diamonds, rubies and sapphires can be cleaned with a touch of ammonia in water. Avoid soaking porous stones in water.

* Porous stones like pearls, opals and turquoise should not be soaked in water since they soak up the water. To clean, gently wipe the porous stones with damp clean cloth.

* Non porous stones can be cleaned using cleaning pastes. Soft and mild paste should be used to clean the gemstones, while harsh paste will scratch the gemstones.

* Make a mixture of warm water and mild soap and then clean the gemstone softly using soft bristle brushes.

* Rinse the gemstone in clean water

* Wipe the stone using lint free cloth.

The Healing Properties of Sodalite

Sodalite is a dark blue stone with white calcite interspersed. It is sometimes confused with lapis lazuli as it also has small specks of pyrite in it. The largest deposit of sodalite is in Brazil.

Sodalite is a member of the feldspathoid group. These minerals are chemically similar to the feldspars but have considerably less silica, forming from alkali-rich silica-poor melts. Sodalite occurs in a blue massive form which is a popular lapidary material. Sodalite also occurs as a minor constituent in the mineral aggregate lapis lazuli.

Gemstone Beads: The Beauty of Citrine Gems

Citrine is a crystalline form of quartz. The iron content present at
the time of formation gives it a slightly orange color. As the
natural citrine in its pristine state is very hard to find, the
commonly
available citrine is usually made by heating amethyst or quartz
crystals.

Although the artificially created citrine might not be as beautiful as
the real gem, it is surely worth a look. Resembling the yellow topaz
in appearance, the commercially available citrine is mostly
found in champagne yellow color.

Make Amazing Jewelry with Gemstone Beads

Have you ever made Jewelry with Gemstone Beads? You may have seen various kinds of jewelry like handmade jewelry, gold, silver jewelry, metal, diamond jewelry, fashion jewelry, body jewelry, sterling silver and gemstone jewelry. But have u ever thought that how can u make your own jewelry using gemstone beads like semi precious beads and precious beads.

You can make beautiful earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, pendants and many more to gift your loved once. You can also wear on various occasions and daily life as well. Natural Gemstone beads are long lasting and look beautiful.

You can create a different jewelry piece, or two, to go with every outfit. Making gemstone jewelry isn't difficult, and designing each piece can be a lot of fun. Here's how to make gemstone jewelry.

Create your own design- Before threading a single bead, choose the best pattern and kind of beads you need. Create a beautiful design. If you don't have a beading board, use a small terry-cloth towel to keep the beads from rolling away. After laying out the pattern, make any final changes or adjustments.

Attach half of the jewelry clasp - Tie one half of the clasp onto the end of the beading thread. A regular double or triple knot will do. After tying the knot, put a small dot of glue or clear fingernail polish on the knot. Once the glue or nail polish has dried, use beading scissors or nail clippers to cut off the loose end as close to the knot as possible.

Thread the beads - Slide all of the gemstone beads that you set out in a pattern as above onto the beading thread using the attached needle. Once all the beads are on the thread, hold the strand up with the clasp that is already attached at the bottom. Let the beads naturally fall against each other so there are no gaps between them.

Connect the other half of the buckle- This is the hardest part of making gemstone jewelry. The thread must be pulled the knot tight and snug against the last bead to avoid any gaps. To do this, slide the clip to the thread and make a very loose knot at the base of the buckle. Put the bead knotting tool or a large pin through the center of the knot loose. Not tighten the knot carefully the work of the node to the heel so that the knotting tool or pin is comfortable against the last bead.

Lift the thread up and make sure that there are gaps. Pull the thread tight to the beads, but don't allow the knot to tighten again. Without releasing the tension on the wire through the beads, lay the thread down and start to tighten the knot while maintaining pin comfortable against the last bead. (This process is similar to tie a knot on a package with a finger to keep the knot tight. In this case, the pin is serving the same purpose as the finger on the package.) Continue pulling the thread until the knot is tight without gaps. Gently remove the pin or push the issue on the bead knotting tool. Place a small dot of glue or clear nail polish on the node. After the glue or nail polish is dry, use scissors or nail clippers to cut the beading free end close to the knot as possible.

Make Amazing Jewelry with Gemstone Beads

Have you ever made Jewelry with Gemstone Beads? You may have seen various kinds of jewelry like handmade jewelry, gold, silver jewelry, metal, diamond jewelry, fashion jewelry, body jewelry, sterling silver and gemstone beads jewelry.

Create your own design - Before threading a single bead, choose the best pattern and kind of beads you need.

Connect the other half of the buckle - This is the hardest part of making gemstone jewelry.
