Where Does Jade Come From?
Most jadeite today is mined in Myanmar (burma) and carved in China. However, jade is also found in Central America, Guatemala, the Olmec. The Mayans and Toltecs also treasured jade and used it for carvings and masks. The Aztecs even taxed jade.
Although neolithic jadeite axes were found in Europe, it is not known where this prehistoric jadeite was mined, although it is possible that the material came from a deposit in the Alps. Nephrite is mined in Canada, Australia, the United States, and Taiwan.

How To Clean A Gemstone
* Cleaning is not a big task, but it’s difficult to know what type of cleaning should be provided for that particular gemstone. Certain gems like opals, amber and pearls are soft and porous. So, they should be wiped with a clean moist cloth.
* Gemstones like turquoise, onyx, lapis lazuli are opaque gemstones that absorbs chemicals and cause discoloration in stones. It is not recommended to use ultrasonic cleaner, ammonia, chemical solution.
* Diamonds, rubies and sapphires can be cleaned with a touch of ammonia in water. Avoid soaking porous stones in water.
* Porous stones like pearls, opals and turquoise should not be soaked in water since they soak up the water. To clean, gently wipe the porous stones with damp clean cloth.
* Non porous stones can be cleaned using cleaning pastes. Soft and mild paste should be used to clean the gemstones, while harsh paste will scratch the gemstones.
* Make a mixture of warm water and mild soap and then clean the gemstone softly using soft bristle brushes.
* Rinse the gemstone in clean water
* Wipe the stone using lint free cloth.

The Healing Properties of Sodalite
Sodalite is a dark blue stone with white calcite interspersed. It is sometimes confused with lapis lazuli as it also has small specks of pyrite in it. The largest deposit of sodalite is in Brazil.
Sodalite is a member of the feldspathoid group. These minerals are chemically similar to the feldspars but have considerably less silica, forming from alkali-rich silica-poor melts. Sodalite occurs in a blue massive form which is a popular lapidary material. Sodalite also occurs as a minor constituent in the mineral aggregate lapis lazuli.

Gemstone Beads: The Beauty of Citrine Gems
Citrine is a crystalline form of quartz. The iron content present at
the time of formation gives it a slightly orange color. As the
natural citrine in its pristine state is very hard to find, the
commonly
available citrine is usually made by heating amethyst or quartz
crystals.
Although the artificially created citrine might not be as beautiful as
the real gem, it is surely worth a look. Resembling the yellow topaz
in appearance, the commercially available citrine is mostly
found in champagne yellow color.
